Pod Kits

How to choose a pod kit

A pod kit is about simplicity: a battery and a pod that clips in, with no tank to screw on and no complicated settings. It is the most common starting point for giving up smoking, and the everyday device for anyone who wants to stay discreet.

The format that suits beginners

A pod kit can be picked up in a few minutes: you insert the pod, charge the battery, and vape. Draw-activated models, like the XROS 5 or the Wenax M2, do not even have a button to press. Others, like the Argus G4, add a small screen and a button to adjust the power without extra complexity.

Tight draw: the setting close to a cigarette

Tight draw, known as MTL, applies to the vast majority of these pod kits: the air passes through a narrow opening, as when drawing on a traditional cigarette, before being drawn into the mouth and then the lungs. A few models, like the Argus G3 or the Vinci 3, open the airflow towards a more airy draw, halfway to a box mod kit.

What battery life for the day?

The battery life of a pod kit depends directly on its built-in battery, from 800 to 3,000mAh depending on the model. The most compact, like the XROS 5 Mini, last half a day to a full day, while larger models like the Drag X3 pass the two-day mark. All charge over USB-C, in about an hour.

A pod that clips in, with no tank to fill drop by drop

The pod of a pod kit is changed or filled from the side, the top or the bottom depending on the model, with a capacity of 1.9 to 10ml. It is designed for a specific kit: Doric pods do not fit a Doric Galaxy, even if the names look alike. The exact name printed on your device remains the surest guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is a pod kit suitable for giving up smoking?

A pod kit works well for a transition from traditional cigarettes: its tight draw (MTL) reproduces the throat hit of a cigarette, and its simple handling avoids too many technical questions at the start. It is the most popular format for a first device.

How long does the battery of a pod kit last?

The battery of a pod kit generally lasts from half a day to two days depending on its capacity, from 800 to 3,000mAh, and how often you use it. A full charge over USB-C takes about an hour.

How do I know if my pod is compatible?

A pod kit pod is designed for a specific model, never for a whole brand. The full name printed on the device, like XROS 5 or Wenax M2, is the only reliable guide: two generations of the same range, like the Argus and the Argus G4, can have different pods.

Should I adjust the airflow on a pod kit?

The airflow of a pod kit can be adjusted on almost all recent models, although many work very well in the closed position for a tight draw. Opening the airflow, as on the Vinci 3, brings the draw closer to that of a box mod kit.

Pod or box mod: which should I choose first?

A pod kit suits simple, portable vaping with few settings and a pod that clips in. A box mod kit brings more power and a screw-on tank, for a more airy vape. Most vapers start with a pod before, if needed, moving on to a box mod.
