The Z XM Boost coils from Geekvape take the XM mesh core of the Z coils in a Boost version, for which the brand quotes 50 to 60ml of e-liquid vaporised before a change is needed. They are aimed at direct-to-lung (DL) vapers, who pull the vapour in one go to the lungs and look for big volume. Each box contains 5.

Three values

• 0.15ohm (70 to 85W): maximum vapour, for a box that goes above 80W
• 0.2ohm (70 to 80W): a value the first-generation Z XM did not offer
• 0.4ohm (50 to 60W): the most economical, suited to a more modest box or to use less e-liquid

Geekvape advises against these coils with nicotine salts: keep them for standard e-liquids.

Z XM Boost or Z Series?

Both families have the same base: according to Geekvape, Z XM Boost coils fit any device that accepts the Z Series coils, and vice versa. The Z Series keeps the advantage of the 0.25ohm dual coil, designed for less powerful boxes; the Z XM Boost focuses on lifespan. If you have a P Subohm, prefer the classic Z: it is the only version Geekvape lists for this model.

Compatibility

Geekvape approves the Z XM Boost on the Z Fli, the Z Fli 2, the Zeus Sub-Ohm 2020 and 2021, the Z Subohm SE and the Zeus Sub-Ohm 5, as well as on the tanks of the Aegis Legend 2, Legend 3, Legend 5, Max 2 and Solo 3 kits. The other families are in the coils section.

Frequently asked questions

Can I alternate Z XM Boost and classic Z in the same tank?

Yes: only one coil is fitted at a time and both versions take exactly the same place. Just remember to set the power according to the installed value.

How do I break it in?

Wet the cotton through the windows of the coil, fill the tank and wait a few minutes. Take the first puffs at around 70W with the 0.15ohm and 0.2ohm, around 50W with the 0.4ohm, then go up gradually.
